ABOUT

Jumping Branch Villa, located at 233 Jumping Branch Road . Tamassee, SC . 29686, has been in the same family for over a decade. An enchanting space to gather with family and friends, the Villa sits across the street from Sumter National Forest on the banks of Lake Cherokee. Constructed in the 1950s by the Army Corp of Engineers it is the largest private lake in Oconee County at 222 acres. The lake is spring fed naturally and maintains a constant water level. The name Tamassee means “place of the sunlight of God” and was the name given to the land by native Cherokee People. This gorgeous area where Georgia, North and South Carolina meet is a short drive to Clemson University, Tamassee DAR School, multiple vineyards, breweries, hiking trails, waterfalls, state parks, unique eateries and shoppes. Explorers may hike nearby trails, rock climb and take in the breathtaking scenery. Enjoy antiquing, vineyards, breweries, and the warmth of nearby towns. Rest, relax and find peace in this serene setting at the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains within the Jocassee Gorge area surrounded by waterfalls and unimaginable mountain views. There are puzzles, games, C&R fishing at the dock, a new canoe and kayak for guest use, a fire pit and Adirondack chairs for gathering by the lake. The lake is partially drained every three years to maintain quality and to allow residents to make any needed repairs. At our lakeside villa, a covered breezeway takes you to the front door where you will enter into a large great room that features a wood adorned vaulted ceiling, a spacious open floor plan, beautiful pine floors, granite kitchen countertops, updated appliances, two dedicated bedrooms that share a full bath, as well as a pull out sofa. Just off the dining area is a huge screened in living space overlooking gorgeous Lake Cherokee. Down the spiral stairs with copper railing you will find two additional bedrooms, an open room with two twin beds, a game closet and a large full bath. The game closet also houses life vests if you choose to take a dip into the water, and a pack 'n play for babies. There is also a high chair tucked away in the King bedroom storage closet upstairs. You feel a sense of welcome and relaxation the minute you walk into the door. The sun's reflection off the ripples of the lake sparkling in through the windows, multigenerational decor and fresh linens give you a feeling of comfort, serenity and peace. Outside the lower level, past a private seating area you'll find the back yard with a rock staircase that leads to a trex dock and lounge area. Adirondack chairs and a fire pit make for lovely evenings by the lake with s'mores while Kayaks, floats, fishing poles, paddle boat and life vests (available in the downstairs game closet) fill your day with fun in the sun activities. For those wanting a different kind of adventure, downtowns Walhalla, Seneca and Pickens are close by and you are a short drive away from local wineries, breweries and shopping! HOUSE RULES

ROOMS

Murphy’s Law states that “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”. Therefore please have a wonderful time but keep a watchful eye over children and be responsible. When you arrive please don’t allow anyone to walk on or near the concrete block retention wall around the edge of the driveway. The same goes for the porch and stairs, please do not allow anyone to lean over the railing. There is a full bathroom on each floor, please be mindful of this and do not over flush or flush anything that should not be. Please throw away feminine napkins and such in the trash can. The upstairs porch is a wonderful place to relax, please do not lean on the screen.

Please make sure children are attended to at all times especially if you unlock the screen door where they can get out easily. The lake is very deep and there is no fence. Please make sure anyone especially those who are not excellent swimmers wear one of the life vests provided in the downstairs game closet. Please be careful not to damage or drive into the “wishing well” pump cover in the driveway. The kitchen sink does not have a garbage disposal, please throw all food waste in the trash and leave the mesh drain covers in place. Please do not have food anywhere other than the designated eating tables and make sure exterior doors are shut completely.

Sumter National Forest is across the street and food will attract wildlife. Please be careful around the stairs inside and out, block off if necessary. The backyard is not fenced, please do not leave children unattended and please stay away from the edge of the hill. The steps to the dock do not have a railing, please use caution and use at your own risk. Please don’t allow anyone to walk on the hill or retention wall around the dock and use caution around the lake as the trex deck can get slippery. Lake Cherokee is a very clean lake but please do not drink, snort or inhale lake or hose water. Please be mindful and courteous to neighbors and keep loud noise to a minimum, sorry no late night parties! Please use the fire pit at your own risk. The lake association does not allow anyone to use motorized boats in the water unless accompanied by an owner, please stay away from the docked boat. Kayaks, Jon boats, paddle boards and paddle boats are allowed for guests to use but it is asked that you stay within the boundaries between the bouys and the shoreline if possible. Our provided guest approved boats will not be available until March of 2023 as the lake will be brought down in December of 2022 for cleaning and maintenance. Outlet covers are provided in the kitchen pantry closet in case anyone in your party is prone to putting their fingers in electrical outlets. Please have a wonderful time and responsibly enjoy everything the villa has to offer. Please walk, swim, breath, laugh etc… at your own risk. Thank you! 😉
